Our Merino wool measures just 18.5 microns, making it much finer and softer than standard wool fibres. This ultra-fine quality means it can be worn next to the skin, even by newborns and babies with sensitive skin. What Is Superfine Merino Wool?
Merino wool is a natural fibre sourced from merino sheep, renowned for producing some of the softest wool in the world. The micron rating refers to the diameter of each fibre — the lower the number, the finer and softer the wool.
At 18.5 microns, our wool is classified as superfine, placing it in the highest grade of softness suitable for garments worn close to the skin. Finer wool fibres are typically used in lightweight, high-quality fabrics, while coarser fibres are reserved for bulkier items like carpets and outerwear. (Source: New Mexico University, 2024)
