General FAQs

We can help with that! Please refer to our guide on Caring For Merino to the best advice.

The first thing to consider is what is your baby's room temperature throughout the year and then you can match it to one or a combination of Go Go Bags (Baby Sleeping Bags).

STANDARD WEIGHT
Ideal for year round use, on holidays, for both night and day sleeps. Suitable for bedroom temperatures of 18-30°C / 64-86°F (Tog: 0.5 to 1.8)

DUVET WEIGHT
Ideal for year round use, except in high summer. Adjust clothing layers to suit bedroom temperature from 15-20°C / 60-64.4°F (Tog: 1.4-2.5)

Check your baby behind the neck or on the stomach to ensure they are not too warm or cold.

A number of external factors determine the tog rating of the sleep bag (Go Go Bag), such as the number of layers your baby has on, your baby’s health and the temperature of their bedroom.

Remember to adjust the clothing underneath your baby's sleep bag (Go Go Bag) and the weight of the baby sleep bag. The requirements may vary for different children.

The Merino Kids Go Go Bag® (baby sleeping bags) comes in two convenient sizes:

  • Baby - The BABY (3-24mth) Go Go Bag can be used from 3 months (minimum weight 3.2kgs/7lbs) by fastening the domes (poppers) under your baby's arms for about the first 6 months. It is designed to be worn until your baby's toes are touching the end of the bag. There is plenty of width and room for baby to grow into the baby sleep bag.
  • Toddler - The TODDLER (2-4yr) Go Go Bag can be used from 12 months if your baby is on the tall side, again just fasten the domes (poppers) under your baby's arms. They should grow out of needing to be in a sleeping bag before they physically outgrow this size.

Please note: Our sizing is based on average sized babies so please take into account what growth percentile your baby is in and buy the right size for now, rather than worrying about how long it will last. We are all about safe sleep and it's important that your Go Go Bag fits and there is no danger of baby slipping into a bag that is too big. If you are not sure what size to get, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will happily make a recommendation.

We strongly recommend the rotation of at least two sleeping bags. Depending on your baby's room temperature, you may need more than one weight.

Over a six-month period, most children sleep on average 3,000 hours and rotating two bags enable you to keep baby in their sleep routine when you have a spare for washing. This is particularly important in winter when drying can take longer.

Your Go Go Bag is made from all-natural fibres and is 'self-cleaning'. Simply air your Go Go Bag out over the cot or bed between sleeps. Unless it's been soiled, you only need to wash your Go Go Bag approximately every 2 weeks.

Please see our washing instructions for tips on how to care for your Merino Kids products to get the most out of them.

Use only a flat or fitted bottom sheet on the bassinet/cot/bed and place your baby in the Go Go Bag.

This will prevent them waking up, getting out or tangled up in bedding. It is not necessary to use blankets, top sheets or duvets when using the Go Go Bag.

The British "TOG" value is the international standard measurement of all blankets' thermal effectiveness (how well it keeps you warm).

The TOG rating describes the warmth or ‘Thermal Resistance’ of a fabric, and is widely used in the UK to describe warmth levels of duvets and sleeping bags.

The unique temperature control qualities of merino mean that our Go Go Bags (baby sleep bags) cover a range of TOG ratings. e.g. the standard weight Go Go Bag gives a 0.5 TOG rating when the room temperature is 30 degrees but as the temperature decreases to 18 degrees, the TOG rating becomes 1.8.

Merino Kids Go Go Bags (baby sleep bags) have been TOG tested to comply with the new British Standard BS 8510:2009 and we print the average TOG rating result on our Go Go Bags rather than the range. This has been approved by the British Standards Authority.

Please refer to our baby sleeping bag temperature guide for what weight Go Go Bag (baby sleep bag) to use in what room temperature with what layers of clothing. Please keep in mind the baby's room temperature, not the season.
